Open the app and tap Set Anchor. By default, HoldFast drops the anchor at your current GPS position. You can also tap anywhere on the map to place it manually, or use the compass bearing mode (Lifetime) to aim your phone and set the anchor at a specific direction and distance.

Use the radius slider to set a distance between 5 and 200 metres. A good starting point is your scope length plus a safety margin — typically 20–40 metres in calm conditions. The circle updates live on the map as you adjust. Lifetime users can draw a custom boundary instead to avoid specific hazards.

Check that your radius is large enough — GPS has a small natural jitter, so a very tight radius can cause false alarms or missed triggers. Also confirm that Location Services is set to Always for HoldFast in iPhone Settings → Privacy → Location Services. Free users must keep the app open and the screen active for the alarm to work.

Background GPS monitoring is a Lifetime feature. With Lifetime access, HoldFast continues watching your position even when the screen is off or you are using another app. The alarm fires at full volume through the lock screen. Free users should keep the app open and the screen active throughout the watch.

Remote Watch is a Lifetime feature. Once your anchor alarm is running, tap the Remote Watch button to generate a 4-digit code. Share that code with anyone ashore — they open anchoralarm.app/watch in any browser, enter the code, and can see your boat's position updating live. No app required on their device.

Yes — the anchor watch and drag alarm rely on GPS, not a mobile data connection. They work fully at anchor even in remote anchorages without signal. The Remote Watch sharing feature does require an internet connection on both devices, as it relays your position via a server.

Tap the settings icon in the app and choose a plan: $4.99 a year, or a one-time $9.99 Lifetime purchase with no renewals. Payment is processed securely through the App Store.

All purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find the HoldFast purchase and select Request a Refund. Apple handles refunds directly and will review your request.

Yes — with Lifetime access. HoldFast records your full GPS track throughout the watch session. Use the track history scrubber to replay your boat's movement and see whether it stayed within your radius. Free users do not have track recording.
