Privacy Policy

1. Location Data

HoldFast uses your device's GPS to monitor your boat's position while at anchor. This is the core function of the app.

• Location data is processed entirely on your device
• Your position history is stored locally and never sent to our servers
• Background location is used to monitor your anchor position while the screen is off — this is essential for the alarm to function overnight (Lifetime feature)

2. Remote Watch

If you choose to enable Remote Watch (a Lifetime feature), your boat's position and alarm status are transmitted in real time to our relay server so a person ashore can monitor your situation.

• This data is only transmitted when Remote Watch is enabled and a watch code is active
• Data is relayed in real time and not stored on our servers
• Only someone with your watch code can view your position
• You can disable Remote Watch at any time to stop transmission immediately

3. Settings and Preferences

Your app settings — alarm radius, alarm sound, battery mode and similar preferences — are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage APIs. This data never leaves your device.

4. In-App Purchases

HoldFast uses RevenueCat to process in-app purchases. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives a transaction receipt from Apple to verify it. RevenueCat may collect:

• A randomly generated anonymous user ID
• Purchase transaction data (product ID, date, status)
• Device locale and platform

No name, email address, or payment details are shared with RevenueCat — all payment processing is handled by Apple. See revenuecat.com/privacy for their policy.

5. Analytics

HoldFast does not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. We do not track how you use the app. Anonymous crash reports may be collected by Apple through the App Store to help identify bugs — we do not have access to personally identifiable information from these reports.

6. Third-Party Services

The following third-party services are used:

• Apple App Store — handles app distribution and in-app purchases. Apple's privacy policy applies.
• RevenueCat — purchase verification. See Section 4 above.
• WorldTides API — used to display local tide information. Your approximate location may be sent to WorldTides to retrieve tide data.
• Google Fonts — used on this website to load typefaces. Google may log request data per their privacy policy.

We do not sell or share your data with any other third parties.

7. Location Permissions

HoldFast requests Always On location permission on iOS to enable background GPS monitoring. You can change this at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → HoldFast. Downgrading to standard location access will disable background monitoring.

8. Children's Privacy

HoldFast is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Data Retention

All data stored by the app lives on your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. Remote Watch relay data is not retained after a session ends.

10. Your Rights

Since HoldFast does not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing to request, correct, or delete on our end. To remove all app data, delete HoldFast from your device. For any privacy questions, contact hello@anchoralarm.app.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
